Bendrea Housewarming

We hosted our housewarming party exactly one month after we moved into our house. It was a little last minute and hurried but my goal was to have people over before October, otherwise I thought it would never happen. Having that goal date really forced us to hit the ground running once we moved in, as you may have noticed from our painting blog (only 4 rooms left!). Once I finally got around to scheduling it I realized we only had 2 free days in September that could possibly work so we just went for it.

It was so much fun to have a bunch of friends over. Since we hosted on a Sunday, football was on the tube almost the whole day and most of the males were content to sit in front of our massive television. My mother-in-law made a ton of hopia and lumpia in addition to the food we prepared. There was no excuse for anyone to leave hungry. With a steady stream of visitors from noon into the late evening, I feel like I didn't get to catch up with anyone for as long as I would have liked. As soon as it was over, it was time to clean up and get ready for another week of work. Here's to hoping this is the first of many parties we will host here.

Meagen & Mike's Wedding

I was volunteer wedding planner for Meagen and Mike at their wedding at Cornelius Pass Roadhouse on Saturday night. The rain held off making way for a lovely outdoor affair. Everything came together just in time. (And I do mean just in time). Meagen is such a beautiful bride and Mike is a really lucky guy to have her. We had a great time celebrating into the night, and I think my feet still hurt a little bit. Congratulations you guys!

I will be stalking Briels blog (their photographer) over the next couple weeks to see some fabulous photos!

More Painting

This weekend was another weekend full of painting. Saturday Ben and I painted our Master Bedroom, then Sunday I ventured all the way to Creswell (just past Eugene) to do some painting in Savannah's new bedroom. Savannah is the two-year old daughter of Tim & Jenny Bonn who are our good friends. They moved into a new house six months ago and Jenny asked me to put some finishing touches on her room. So the pretty pink words and flowers are my contribution. This type of painting is much easier, cleaner and faster than the other kind of painting we have been doing lately. (Only 4 more rooms to go!)
I hope Savannah loves her new room!

Ben's Blurb - Weekend Warriors UNITE!!

So this last Labor Day weekend was a busy one. We spent the entire weekend painting the inside of the house. It was a lot of hard work, but we are finally done! Sort of. We have all of the major areas of the house done. We still have 4 bedrooms and a bathroom to do. That will hopefully happen in the upcoming weeks. We did manage to paint the office, family room, living room, dining room, formal dining room, kitchen, hallway, stairway, 2nd floor landing, and also the entry area from floor to ceiling. Yikes. We did a pretty good job staying motivated through the weekend but there were some early mornings (for me) and some late nights!

It started at Home Depot on Friday night after work, then Saturday - I got up early and painted the office, then Andrea got up a bit later and we hit it really hard. We turned in after 11pm on Saturday night. Then Sunday we got up and did it all again. On Sunday we finished up at about 5pm. By then we were sore and exhausted. Monday we were free to do other house stuff.
