We hope that everyone had a happy New Year celebration!
We celebrated with the Craig's once again, playing games until 1 am or so. We are hoping that they follow through with their commitment to host us annually since they make such great hosts. Unfortunately, we didn't bring our camera so there are no photos. Maybe some will be up on their blog soon.
As tradition goes, we made some resolutions. Kristi had us write them down and we put them in a jar so we can read them next year. Considering I couldn't exactly remember our resolutions from last year - it is a good idea. I think running a 5k was one of my resolutions last year, which I ended up doing twice and even did a 10k later in the year. The year before our resolution was to recognize good customer service (as opposed to complaining about bad customer service). Ben did follow through with a few times by writing letters to companies or store managers.
This year my resolutions are to:
Donate to the Tualatin Food Pantry once a month. I'm making this resolution because I have felt convicted lately for 'feeling' poor, which we undoubtedly are not. We have more than we need, more than we deserve and helping others is something we have the ability to do. I wanted to make this commitment to ensure it's something we remember to do regularly and not as casually.
Run a 10k. Even though I already did it last year, making the commitment to do it again is still a little intimidating. I stopped running regularly after completing the race last year and have been increasingly more relaxed (and less regular) with my exercise. We are officially joining the Sherwood YMCA today so having the goal of getting back up to 6 miles will keep me going, or at least I hope so.
Hopefully a year from now I will be able to report that I followed through with these resolutions. I'm curious what other people's resolutions are. Anyone have something creative they want to do in 2009?

I like the jar idea. Maybe we'll whip something up this weekend... :o) Good luck with your training for another 10k! I'm impressed :)
Hey, what about having a young Whitaker? Isn't that a resolution?? Or just a fact? Just curious.
